Located in Northwest Gate of Dalgubeol
From the Silla period onwards, villages were formed as the city continued to expand in the typical hill lands of Nalmoe and Deulmaeul near the lower reaches of the Geumhogang River and Dalseocheon, just below Waryongsan Mountain. With the development of urban district and establishment of industrial complex, Seo-gu reached its current form.

Seo-gu is a transportation hub that serves as the gateway to the Gyeongbu railway, as well as Gyeongbu, Jungbu Inland, Gwangju-Daegu, and Jungang expressways. It is a regional economic center, home to Seodaegu Industrial Complex and Dyeing Industrial Complex.

Seo-gu emerges as the new center of Daegu with the construction of Seodaegu Station (KTX, SRT, metropolitan railway), Daegu Metropolitan Railway, Daegu Industrial Line, New Airport Railway, Dalbbit Railway, active promotion of Pyeongni Redevelopment Promotion Project, housing reconstruction (Cheongsu, Pyeongni 3-dong, Naedang-Naeseo, Naedang-dong), and housing redevelopment (Wondae-dong 3-ga, Seodaegu district) projects.
